India agrees to change design of controversial Pakal Dal Dam 

India has expressed interest in changing the design of the controversial Pakal Dal Dam project on the west of Pakistan’s Chenab River, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Sources privy to the matter said that other controversial projects under construction by India on Pakistani rivers are expected to visit soon.
The first round of the 118th bilateral meeting on water disputes between Pakistan and India was held in New Delhi, sources said.
According to sources, Pakistan's five-member delegation is being led by Syed Mehr Ali Shah, head of the Pakistan Commission of Indus Water.
From India, the newly appointed Indus Water Commissioner from India, Ashish Pal, hosted the event, sources said.
As per sources, the meeting began with the introduction of the new Indian Commissioner Ashish Pal to the Pakistani delegation.
According to sources, in the first round of the meeting, the annual report of the commission of both the countries was also reviewed.
As per sources, Pakistani authorities raised objections to India over the design of controversial Pakal Dal and Kiru hydropower projects.
India assured Pakistan that controversial projects will be visited by Pakistani authorities after the monsoon flood season, sources said.
Pakistan Commission of Indus Water also urged India to ensure the supply of 3.6 million acre-feet of water in western rivers under the Indus Water Treaty, sources said.
Pakistani officials have informed India that additional storage of 11,000 acre-feet of water on the controversial Pakal Dal project is a violation of the Indus Water Treaty.
India did not want to discuss the Pakal Dal project under construction on the Chenab River and other projects under construction on the western rivers, sources said.
According to sources, the second round of the 118th meeting of the Indus Water Commission of the two countries will be held tomorrow.
Sources said that a letter from the Indian government is likely to be issued at the end of the meeting.
