Says the commission should be made fully functional

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday ordered the restoration of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) besides not cutting its budget for the financial year, 2022-23, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The prime minister said that the commission should be made fully functional just like it was under the last PML-N government. “Don’t slash the budgetary allocations made for the HEC. Rather we should add to its resources,” he directed the ministries of finance and planning.
Expressing his concern over cut in the HEC funds from time to time during the four years of the PTI government, PM Shehbaz stressed the need for doing the opposite of that since it had had a negative impact on higher education in the country.
He also directed the concerned officials to ensure restoration of educational projects at all country’s universities. “Rather the number of such projects should be increased in order to bring the educational standards of our country at par with those of the West and the developed world,” he ordered.
Separately, in a tweet, he said he had given clear instructions to the concerned officials in this regard. https://twitter.com/CMShehbaz/status/1531151333033750529?cxt=HHwWgsC97cyB378qAAAA
