Alizeh Shah’s humble request to people ahead of Eid-ul-Adha
Popular Pakistani actress has made a humble request to fans to refrain from sharing animal slaughtering videos on social media as the star finds it quite distressing and painful to watch.
Taking to her social media, Alizeh Shah shared a detailed note in which she shared her thoughtful perspective regarding uploading animal sacrificing videos, memes, and jokes about the same on social media, urging fans to avoid this practice and show mercy and empathy.
She wrote: “Please know this is not a criticism, just a soft voice sharing a different perspective. I know that Qurbani is a Sunnah, a beautiful tradition rooted in the story of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) But it is also true, from an Islamic standpoint, that it is not a fardh (obligatory) act for everyone… Yet, sometimes, it feels like this sacred act has turned into something else entirely. Every year, I see so much pain on the roads — blood, fear in the eyes of animals, their cries — and my heart breaks. I know they can’t speak, but animals feel. They love, they nurture, they form bonds — just like we do. They were created by the same loving God who created us, and to see them suffer so publicly, often with pictures, jokes, and memes shared on social media — it’s something I personally find very difficult to digest. I know intentions matter, and I know that for many, Qurbani is done with sincerity and reverence. This post is not against that. It’s only a gentle plea: Can we make this Eid less about how many animals we sacrifice or how big they are, and more about the spirit of giving, empathy, and humility? I only request — if it’s possible — please be mindful of the images and videos shared online. Some of us are deeply affected by them. Islam teaches mercy, compassion, and dignity — for humans and animals. That is the true Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (PBUH).”
