Cabinet meeting: Ministers vent their anger at heavy electricity bills, gas shortage

The inside story of the federal cabinet’s Tuesday meeting revealed that ministers Pervez Khattak and Murad Saeed lashed out before the Prime Minister on heavy electricity bills and load shedding of gas.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, Federal Minister Pervaiz Khattak slammed the Sui gas load management plan of the authorities.

Khattak told PM Imran that they could not face people of their constituencies as they raised questions about the schemes.

He said, Mr PM! There is no electricity in summer and gas in winter, if the situation continues, it will be difficult for us to go to the constituencies.

Federal Minister Murad Saeed also raised the issue of high rates of electricity and said, though the cost of electricity units was less but taxes in the bills were very high.

He demanded an explanation about increasing rates of electricity units in the name of fuel price adjustment and said people were facing problems due to heavy taxes on electricity bills.

It is decided in the meeting that Sheerin Mazari will appear before the Islamabad High Court tomorrow and inform the government decision.

In the meeting, the government has decided to take steps to recover missing journalist Mudassar Naro.

The issue of Zartaj Gul and Malik Amin Aslam was also discussed in the cabinet meeting.
