Pakistani actress Saba Hamid

Senior Pakistani actress Saba Hamid has appeared on Vasay Chaudhary show ‘Gup Shab’ where she opened up about the female victimization Pakistani drama serials.

During the span of an interview, audience questioned the actress about when the typical Pakistani dramas in which women are always shown crying will be end?

Saba took a stand and addressed the issue of female victimization in Pakistani dramas.

She's clarified the abundance of such portrayals and shed light on the impact it has on society.

Here are exact words of the lady:
“I can’t tell you when we will get rid of such (regressive) stories, because the drama is the reflection of society we are living in, people think that society is influenced through dramas but I feel that we show the things which are happening in our society, the oppressed woman you are seeing in the dramas do exist in reality”

However, most netizens did not agree with her statement and wrote that our industry should portrays woman as a motivational character but which our society can be influenced so our writers should try to make some positive content.

“But still if we start showing a powerful woman in our dramas, it can influence the mazloom. Start normalizing strong some woman.”

“disagree. Try to create new positive content.”

“if you will change the subject, our society will be changed”

While few people agreed with her that ‘she is speaking absolutely right. Most of the people who watch Pakistani drama are middle class and people in villages. They watch more and still in most areas, a woman is tortured by her husband or in-laws, or brothers kill their sisters in the name of honor.’

On the other hand, the fellow guest Dr. Omar Adil said that he equally supports men and women. Crying women are loved by poets, directors, people and writers and that’s why such kinds of scripts work for our society.

He further said that no one cares about man’s struggle, problems, being abused as they don’t like to see a man crying, please someone should portray this side of society too in drama serials.
