CM Maryam launches second phase of Lahore development
CM orders strict quality control and warns against project delays: More than 6,284 streets to be modernised under year-long plan
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally launched the second phase of the Lahore Development Plan, marking what officials describe as a new era of urban uplift for the provincial capital.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the ambitious programme aims to upgrade 6,284 streets across the city, transforming neighbourhoods through comprehensive modernisation work.
As per the report, 5,798 streets under the Lahore Municipal Corporation and another 486 managed by WASA will be rebuilt and upgraded by 30 June next year.
Chairing a detailed review meeting on Phase Two, the chief minister was briefed on timelines, implementation mechanisms and quality-control protocols. She issued strict instructions to ensure that the pace of work remains uninterrupted.
A phased monthly work plan was presented to her, outlining efforts to make every part of Lahore well-lit, functional and visibly improved.
Maryam Nawaz stressed that there would be no compromise on standards and warned that delays in the project’s execution would not be tolerated.
She said the initiative would free Lahore’s neighbourhoods from years of wear and decay, creating dignified living conditions for all residents.
With more than 6,000 streets being upgraded, she added, each locality would become “a symbol of pride” once the programme is completed.
