Flood survivors Friday staged a protest in Thatta against the delay in the supply of relief goods to them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Scores of flood-affected people including women and children blocked the main National Highway near the bridge of the Sindh River against authorities for showing apathy.

They raised anti-government slogans to press their demands.

They told the media persons that they were residing on the main roads for the last two months but no relief goods were yet provided to them by the administration. They are being provided with hollow consolations by the authorities. Some people are providing them only food on their own, they said.

They said they had been compelled to live in makeshift huts due to the inundation of their villages. They are not being provided with tents and rations yet. Their children are forced to starve in the open sky, the affected women added.

The flood affectees said that they are also facing unnecessary delays in the drainage of rainwater from their areas submerged in floodwater.

Whenever there is a protest, officials come and assure to help, and afterward, they do not return, they lamented.

They vowed that they would not open the road until help is provided to them, they added.
