Drug court without judge for 8 months

The drug court has been without a judge for the last eight months delaying the hearings of hundreds of cases in Punjab.
The drug court is situated at judicial complex in Lahore where drug related cases from across the Punjab province are fixed for hearing. The litigants who came from far-flung areas expressed serious concern over the absence of the judge. They said when they reached Lahore for their cases, they came to know that their cases were adjourned due to non-availability of drug court judge.
Expressing their concerns, lawyers Raees Ahmed and Javed Arshad said that the lawyer community was also suffering due to absence of the judge. They appealed to the authorities to appoint the drug court judge immediately. They said hundreds of families had been affected due to no court proceedings.
