Heavy rain pummels Punjab as province battles unprecedented floods

As floods continue to take a toll on human lives and properties in Punjab, heavy rains buffeted different parts of the province during the last 24 hours, making the situation for the people already grappling with floods even more complicated, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

Intermittent rainfall was reported from Lahore, Narowal, Pattoki, Baseerpur, Nankana Sahib, Shahkot, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin and other cities of the province.  

Lahore receives light to heavy rainfall 

Different localities of the city received light to heavy rainfall.

Showers were reported from Sabza Zar, Wahdat Road, Allama Iqbal Town, Multan Road, Johar Town, Samanabad, Shahdara Town, Farrukhabad, Shafiqabad, Talat Park, Badami Bagh, Azadi Chowk, Lakshmi Chowk, Shimla Paharri, railway station, Baghbanpura, Fatehgarh, Mughalpura, Dharampura, The Mall, Jail Road, Davis Road, Canal Road and adjoining areas.   

Four-hour rain leaves Pattoki submerged

Torrential rain in Pattoki and suburbs that lasted four hours turned low-lying areas of the city into pools of water besides entering shops and people’s homes.

The rain also resulted in the suspension of the power supply to the city after several feeders tripped.    

Light to heavy rainfall recorded in Shahkot

Shahkot received light to heavy rain, which rid the people of humid weather.

Rain floods Baseerpur, outskirts

Rain was also reported from Baseerpur near Okara, which inundated low-lying areas besides flooding roads.

It rains cats and dogs at Nankana Sahib

Heavy rain in Nankana and surrounding areas for the second consecutive day disrupted routine life.

Heavy rain leaves Narowal drenched

Heavy rain in Narowal and outskirts flooded low-lying areas besides roads, multiplying problems for the flood-hit people.  

More rains forecast

Meanwhile, the weather department predicted thundershowers, accompanied by strong winds, for Punjab, Kashmir, Islamabad and KP during the next 24 hours.

It further said that there could be heavy rain at a few places in the north-eastern and eastern Punjab during the aforementioned period.

The department also forecast rain for a few places in north-eastern Balochistan, south-eastern Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan either in the evening or at night.
