Zafarwal put on red alert as Nala Dek likely to swell again

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Ahmed Iqbal on Sunday warned of another major flood in Nala Dek that could affect Zafarwal and surrounding village very badly.

MPA Ahmed Iqbal, who is chairman of the Public Accounts Committee Punjab, said that around 100,000 cusecs of water passed through Nala Dek four days ago.

He said that authorities had received a red alert on Nala Dek therefore people should leave their villages and move to safer places. He said that following villages were in a serious danger: Lehri, Sapwal, Lehri Kalan, Moga and other nearby villages.

He said it had been raining heavily in Jammu and Zafarwal areas since yesterday therefore water level in Dek would rise. He said that rescue teams of the local administration, police, Pakistan Army and paramilitary force had reached Zafarwal to ensure people’s safety.
