NA speaker declares resignations of PML-N MNAs as fake

Following a meeting with two Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNAs Murtaza Javed Abbasi and Sajjad Awan, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Thursday said that the resignations reportedly submitted by them were fake, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Both the MNAs, in their meetings with the secretary and speaker, had refused to confirm these resignations were theirs.

And finally ass they conveyed in writing, the speaker gave the ruling as per the rules, regulations and Supreme Court’s decision.

The speaker, in the ruling, said since it could not be proved that the resignations had been submitted by the MNAs themselves, there was no need for further action in this regard.

A week ago, Asad Qaiser had summoned Murtaza Javed Abbasi and Muhammad Sajjad Awan for the confirmation of their resignations.

A circular has been issued to both members of the Lower House to contact the National Assembly Secretariat for confirmation of their resignations. Both members of the National Assembly sent their resignations to the speaker on the official letter pad on December 14.

The NA circular read, “The signatures of both the members of the National Assembly are in accordance with the signatures given in the records of the National Assembly and members should inform the National Assembly Secretariat of the date of their appearance before the NA Speaker to confirm their resignations.”

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had already rejected the ultimatum given by the opposition alliance of 11 parties Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to Prime Minister Imran Khan to step down by January 31.

It is pertinent to note that PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman had already said lawmakers from PDM member parties in the national and provincial assemblies will hand in their resignations to their party leaders by December 31.
