Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho appointed Acting IG Sindh following Ghulam Nabi Memon’s retirement

Inspector General of Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, retired Wednesday after completing his term.

In a departure from tradition, the formal notification for the appointment of a new IG Sindh was not issued prior to his retirement.

On the day of Memon’s retirement, Chief Secretary Sindh appointed Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho as the acting IG Sindh.

Traditionally, the Establishment Division issues a formal notification for the new IG after written consultation with the provincial government, a procedure that was not followed this time.

The Sindh provincial government has assigned the additional charge to Javed Alam Odho until a permanent appointment is made. An official notification has been issued by the Chief Secretary in this regard.

According to sources, there is a strong possibility that Javed Alam Odho could be appointed as the permanent IG Sindh.
