IG Sindh warns against aerial firing, hooliganism ahead of New Year

Inspector General of Police Sindh, Ghulam Nabi Memon, has issued a strong warning against aerial firing and other unlawful activities ahead of the New Year, stressing that celebrations must not come at the cost of public safety, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

In his message, the IG Sindh said the New Year is meant to be a time of joy and responsibility, not lawlessness. He declared that aerial firing, hooliganism, and dangerous stunts such as one-wheeling would be treated as intolerable crimes under the law.

Highlighting the deadly consequences of reckless behaviour, Ghulam Nabi Memon warned that a single moment of negligence could result in lifelong loss and tragedy for innocent citizens. He made it clear that those found involved in aerial firing would face strict and indiscriminate legal action, without any exception.

The police chief further announced that security across Sindh has been placed on high alert in view of New Year celebrations. Additional police personnel will be deployed at sensitive locations to ensure peace and order.

He said strict surveillance would be maintained at parks, hotels, recreational venues, and places of worship, where large gatherings are expected during the festivities. To facilitate public safety, control rooms and police helplines have been activated in all districts of the province.

The IG Sindh appealed to citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and immediately report any suspicious activity to Police Helpline 15, emphasizing that public vigilance is essential to prevent untoward incidents and ensure a peaceful start to the New Year.
