Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurates Shaheen Chowk Underpass in Islamabad

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Wednesday inaugurated the Shaheen Chowk Underpass, a major infrastructure project completed in record time to ease traffic and improve public convenience in the capital.

Reviewing the project, the minister said the underpass is now open for traffic and described it as “another gift for the citizens of Islamabad.”

The project was completed in record time with efficiency and timely execution.

Naqvi assured that the Prime Minister would formally inaugurate the underpass soon.

He also stressed that the project was designed while protecting Islamabad’s green belts and that every effort had been made to preserve the city’s trees and natural beauty.

The minister recalled other completed projects this year, including Jinnah Square, Murree Road, and Teif Erdogan, and said Vision 2027, detailing upcoming development plans, would be presented in January. He added that the Islamabad Jail project and several other initiatives are underway, with the number of development projects expected to double next year.

In addition, Naqvi mentioned upcoming plans for a new convention centre, an Expo Centre, a cricket ground, and the arrival of the top 25 restaurants in Islamabad. He also noted the 15-day extension of the M-Tag deadline and plans to bring more greenery to the capital.

The Shaheen Chowk Underpass is expected to significantly reduce congestion and enhance commuter convenience in Islamabad.
