Karachi announces strict measures to maintain law and order on New Year’s Eve

Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi on Wednesday announced a complete ban on arms exhibition, aerial firing and pillion riding to ensure the safety of citizens on New Year’s Eve.

Under the orders of the Karachi Commissioner, Section 144 has been imposed across the city from December 31 to January 1 to protect lives and property during New Year’s celebrations.

According to the announcement, strict security measures will be in place on New Year’s Eve, and the use of firecrackers has also been completely banned in Karachi. The commissioner stated that these steps have been taken in the interest of public safety and to maintain law and order during the celebrations.

The Karachi Commissioner warned that legal action will be taken against anyone found violating Section 144. Police have been authorized to take necessary action to protect citizens and prevent any untoward incidents on New Year’s Eve.

However, exemptions have been granted to women, children under 12 years of age and officials on duty from the ban on pillion riding. The Karachi Commissioner also hinted at strict action against those involved in aerial firing, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and safe New Year for the residents of Karachi.
