Temperatures plunge as rain, snow lash different parts of country

Three people were killed when the roof of a house collapsed in Dera Murad Jamali as different parts of the country received rain and snow on Wednesday, which turned the weather considerably chilly besides raising fears of landslides in the mountainous regions, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Snowfall was reported from different areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and KP.

Neelum Valley in AJK and Kalam in KP received snow.

Similarly, snowfall was also reported from Babusar Top, while five-inch of snow was recorded in Tirah Valley till last reports came in.

Mountains in Ziarat were also covered in snow.

On the other hand, it rained cats and dogs in different parts of KP.

There were also reports of showers from different cities of Balochistan, including Quetta, Dera Bugti and Chaman.

Different cities of the Punjab also received rain.

Karachi, other Sindh cities receive showers

Karachi and several other areas of Sindh received the first rainfall of the winter season which will continue till tomorrow.

According to the Met Office, Model Colony, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Federal B Areas, Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Saudabad, New Karachi, Nazimabad, Safura, Clifton, Scheme No. 33 and Lyari also received heavy rainfall.

Other Sindh cities, including Shikarpur, Jacobabad and Dadu, also received rain.

It rained cats and dogs in Daharki in upper Sindh, which turned the weather quite cold.

However, the rain did not come without inconvenience as the supply of electricity to different localities of the city was suspended after several feeders tripped.

Likewise, Ubauro and its outskirts also received showers.

On the other hand, farmers are happy that the rain would prove beneficial for the wheat crop.

Rain, snow lash KP, AJK, GB, Balochistan 

The rain spell also lashed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) as Neelum Valley and Kalam received rain and snowfall in mountainous regions.

Heavy rain was also reported from parts of eastern Balochistan as water entered people’s homes and damaged houses.

Rain in south Punjab

There were also reports of showers from different parts of south Punjab, which resulted in considerable drop in temperatures in these areas.

Light rain in and around Uch Sharif increased the intensity of the cold weather.

The Met Office said that the minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 8 degrees Celsius, while it would touch 22 degrees Celsius later in the day.

Similarly, Liaquatpur and surrounding areas also received the first rainfall of the winter season due to which temperatures plunged.

The level of moisture in the city in the morning was recorded at 76 per cent.

The Met Office, on the other hand, predicted that these areas would receive rainfall during the next three days.

Likewise, rain was also reported from other parts of south Punjab, including Khairpur Sadat, Tarinda Muhammad Panah, Mubarakpur, Rojhan and Ahmadpur East, which turned the weather chillier.

Islamabad will also bid farewell to 2025 amid rain as the Met Office has predicted rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds for today.

The maximum temperature of Islamabad will likely to touch 13 degrees centigrade.
