Six people, five gunmen and brother of Malik Habib Awan, PML-N candidate from PP-154, Lahore, were seriously injured after the party’s rally came under attack by members of a rival group yesterday over old enmity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

According to reports, goons of Karamat alias Karamu group sitting on a motorcycle opened fire at the rally in Hadyara area of the city due to which six people, including the candidate’s brother Malik Bodla, were seriously wounded.

This did not stop here as both the groups again scuffled with each other after reaching the Services Hospital’s emergency ward which created panic in the medical and paramedical staff as well as in the patients.

However, later police reached the spot and calmed down the situation.

SP Cantonment Awais Shafiq said that teams had been formed for the arrest of the assailants.
