Widow of KH Khurshid passes away at 90

Surraya Khurshid, the widow of the former President of Azad Jammu Kashir late KH Khurshid has passed away at the age of 90 in Lahore on Tuesday.

The funeral prayers of the deceased will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon at Khalid Mosque, Cavalry Ground, Lahore.

Surraya Khurshid leaves behind a legacy deeply intertwined with the history of Pakistan. The deceased had spent several years of her life in the company of the mother of the nation Ms. Fatima Jinnah when K H Khurshid was working with Quaid-e-Azam as a private secretary.

Ms. Khurshid was an activist of Tehreek Pakistan. She was the mother of Mrs. Yasmeen Haroon, the retired General Manager of Public Relations at Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), and Prof Khurram Khurshid of Canada.

She was sister of renowned personalities, including the late journalist Khalid Hassan Dar, Masood Hassan Dar, Brigadier Bashir Ahmed Dar, and Colonel Saeed Dar.

She was the aunt of the famous singer Meekal Hassan and the maternal aunt of Nida Dar, the captain of the Pakistan women's cricket team.

Khurshid played an effective role in the development and prosperity of Azad Kashmir and the strengthening of democratic institutions.

During her stay in Muzaffarabad, she played a key role in women’s development projects.

The passing of Begum Begum Khurshid marks the end of an era, leaving behind memories of a life devoted to service and loyalty.

Her contributions to the nation, alongside her association with the founding father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, will forever remain etched in the annals of Pakistan's history.
