AJK announces 3-day mourning over President Sultan Mahmood's death

The Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has announced a three-day mourning over the death of AJK President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry. During the mourning period, the state flag will remain at half-mast as a mark of respect.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow and grief over the passing of Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, praying that Allah Almighty may grant the departed soul a high place in Paradise. He also conveyed heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family and termed the deceased’s national and political services as highly valuable.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed profound grief over the death of the AJK President. In his message, he prayed for the elevation of the departed soul and for patience for the grieving family.

He described Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry as a thoughtful politician who dedicated his entire life to serving the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He said the people of AJK have lost a great leader whose contributions will be remembered for years to come.

Shehbaz noted that the late leader consistently raised his voice for the Kashmir cause and against Indian atrocities against the Kashmiri people. He added that Barrister Sultan Mahmood’s services to the Kashmiri people and his struggle for the Kashmir cause would always be remembered in history.
