Lahore DC sets up Quick Response Teams ahead of Basant

The Lahore district administration has formed Quick Response Teams (QRTs) across the city as part of safety preparations for the Basant Festival 2026, 24NewsHD TV reported on Saturday.

According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner Lahore, QRTs have been deployed in every tehsil to ensure public safety and to respond promptly to any emergency during the festival.

Assistant commissioners have been appointed as conveners of the teams.

The QRTs comprise representatives from Rescue 1122, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), and the police.

The administration has imposed a complete ban on kite flying from the rooftops of dangerous and dilapidated buildings.

Authorities have also directed that inspections of all hazardous structures be completed and fitness certificates issued by February 2.

Officials said owners of dilapidated buildings would be required to submit affidavits, warning that strict action would be taken in case of violations.

The Deputy Commissioner said the measures were aimed at preventing any untoward incident during the Basant celebrations and ensuring public safety across Lahore.
