A day after Eidul Azha celebrations in parts of North Waziristan, the religious festival is being celebrated in several other areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.

There is an “early Eid” in parts of Peshawar too where the biggest congregation was held at Board Bazaar. The Eid prayers were also offered in Tajabad, Nasir Bagh, Hayatabad and other localities of the provincial capital.

In this connection, people also sacrificed animals – the main ritual for which Eidul Azha is known.

Meanwhile, all the Afghan refugees living in Peshawar are celebrating the Eid earlier than the rest of Pakistan.

Earlier, the religious festival was celebrated in parts of North Waziristan on Thursday followed by two more Eid days on Friday and Saturday.

According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the latest episode was reported from Haider Khel – a village located in the Mir Ali area – where the Eid prayers were offered on Thursday morning.

According to the local moon-sighting committee, the decision was taken after fulfilling the Sharia requirement of having the required number of witnesses for sighting the Zil Hajj moon earlier in the month.

This move certainly makes Haider Khel unique in the world as the local people celebrated Eidul Azha before the rest of the world.

However, the Thursday’s Eid may not have been expected by many as Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai – the famous cleric of Masjid Qasim Khan Peshawar – too disbanded the idea of an early Eid this year and is set to celebrate the event along with the rest of Pakistan.

Interestingly, Popalzai had earlier celebrated Eidul Fitr in May as per the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee’s decision.
