Lahore police arrest man accused of acid attack on ex-wife

Badami Bagh police have arrested a man accused of throwing acid on his former wife, a spokesperson for the DIG Operations said.

The suspect, identified as Shakeel, allegedly entered the woman’s house and threw acid contained in a washroom cleaning product on her face, according to the initial investigation.

The victim was immediately shifted to Mayo Hospital, where she is receiving treatment. Police said her lips, eyes and throat were affected in the attack.

The spokesperson said the victim’s statement had been recorded and a case registered against the suspect. Further legal action was being taken in the light of the medical report.

Lahore police were completing all legal formalities to ensure justice for the victim, the spokesperson added.
