WHT abolition on relief list in budget

The government has been recommended the withdrawal of withholding tax on ATM cards in the coming budget as part of measures adopted to provide the people with relief.
24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday, recommendations had been made in the next budget to provide relief to the taxpayers.
For this purpose, the government was proposed to abolish 10 unnecessary withholding tax including the tax on credit cards and ATM (automated teller machine) cards.
But, the remaining five to six withholding tax would continue in the next financial years as these were declared as most necessary for revenue generation.
It was also recommended to the government that the rules to provide data of transactions of half of million rupees in a month to the FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) would be relaxed to ease the traders and common persons.
As per the report, the said recommendations were forwarded to the government to provide relief to the local taxpayers in the next budget.
