EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas to visit Pakistan on June 1

The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, will undertake an official visit to Pakistan on June 1 at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Office announced on Sunday.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Kallas's visit underscores the growing engagement between Pakistan and the European Union and reflects the importance both sides attach to strengthening bilateral cooperation.

During the visit, Ishaq Dar and Kaja Kallas will jointly co-chair the 8th Pakistan-European Union Strategic Dialogue, the highest-level institutional forum between Pakistan and the European Union. The dialogue serves as a structured platform through which both sides discuss key political, economic, security and international issues of mutual interest.

In addition to the strategic dialogue, the EU foreign policy chief is scheduled to meet Pakistan's top leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Foreign Office stated that Pakistan places great importance on its long-standing and comprehensive partnership with the European Union, which is founded on shared values, strong economic cooperation and a common commitment to multilateralism.

The spokesperson noted that the visit demonstrates the continuity and increasing momentum of high-level political exchanges between Pakistan and the EU. It also highlights the shared determination of both sides to further deepen and broaden cooperation across multiple sectors.

Pakistan expressed confidence that Kaja Kallas's visit will contribute to strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing political dialogue, expanding economic ties and promoting closer coordination on regional and international issues.

The visit is expected to provide an opportunity for both sides to review the progress of ongoing cooperation and explore new avenues for partnership under the broader Pakistan-European Union framework.
