PM Shehbaz, Interior Minister Naqvi review security situation, discuss GB elections

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Sunday called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore, where both leaders reviewed the country’s overall law and order and security situation in detail.

During the meeting, discussions were held on internal security challenges and measures being taken to ensure peace and stability across the country.

Naqvi briefed the prime minister on special arrangements made for the protection of citizens’ lives and property, as well as the security of public places during Eid-ul-Azha. He said that enhanced security measures were implemented nationwide to maintain order during the festive period.

Naqvi updated the prime minister on preparations for the upcoming general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, stating that security agencies have developed a comprehensive plan to ensure peaceful, transparent and orderly polling. He said the arrangements aim to provide a safe environment for voters throughout the electoral process.

Prime Minister Sharif appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Interior, law enforcement agencies and security forces for maintaining peace and stability in the country and safeguarding citizens.

He lauded the interior minister and his team for their work on election security planning in Gilgit-Baltistan, reiterating the government’s commitment to supporting the democratic process and ensuring that all necessary steps are taken for smooth and secure elections.
