PTI-backed KP govt set to unveil budget exceeding Rs2.3 trillion

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has completed preparations for its budget and Annual Development Programme for the 2026–27 financial year, with the overall budget size expected to exceed Rs 2.3 trillion, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

According to official sources, the province is likely to receive Rs1.671 trillion from the federal government during the next fiscal year. In addition, it is expected to receive Rs107 billion in net hydel profit, a key source of revenue for the province.

Sources said the provincial government anticipates generating Rs150 billion from its own resources.

Of this amount, Rs99 billion is expected to come from taxes, while Rs51 billion is projected to be raised through non-tax revenues and other sources.

A significant allocation is also expected for the province’s merged districts, with around Rs 334 billion likely to be earmarked for ongoing and development projects aimed at improving infrastructure and public services in those areas.

Meanwhile, the budget prepared for the settled districts of the province is expected to total Rs1.971 trillion, reflecting the government's focus on maintaining development spending while meeting administrative and operational requirements.

The proposed budget is expected to outline the provincial government's priorities for economic growth, public services and development initiatives during the 2026–27 fiscal year.
