Senior KP doctor dies of coronavirus

A senior Khyber Pakhtunkhwa doctor died of coronavirus on Saturday, bringing the death toll of doctors fell prey to the Covid-19 in the province to 20, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Dr Sultan Zeb has been infected by the coronavirus several days ago and was under treatment at Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar.
He was Associate Dean at Khyber College of Dentistry. His Namaz-i-Janaza will be offered at Buner Totalay on Saturday.
According to the Provincial Doctors Association (PDA), Dr Sultan Zeb’s services will be remembered for long.
The PDA said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had not so far awarded funds from the Shujada Package to the doctors or the health workers who died of the coronavirus in the province. The doctors and health workers were neither given corona allowance, the PDA added.
It may be mentioned here that another 807 people tested positive for the coronavirus which also claimed 11 more lives during the past 24 hours, showed the latest data released by National Command and Operation Centre on Saturday morning.
These figures came after the country reported 20 more deaths and 1,708 new cases a day earlier, which represented the highest daily count in terms of infections during the last three months.
It means the total number of officially recorded coronavirus cases in the country has climbed to 332,993 with the death toll reaching 6,806.
The regional distribution of the coronavirus cases is given as: Sindh 145,475, Punjab 104,016, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 39,458, Islamabad 19,818, Balochistan 15,896, Gilgit-Baltistan 4,248 and Azad Kashmir 4,082.
In this scenario, the number of active cases is also on the rise with the country currently having 12,121 coronavirus patients with 838 of them receiving treatment in hospitals.
