PCB forms committee to investigate 'Conflict of Interest' allegations in team selection

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken swift action to address recent allegations of a potential 'conflict of interest' within the domain of team selection, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.  

In response to media reports and public concerns, the PCB has constituted a five-member fact-finding committee with the mandate to conduct a thorough investigation into these allegations.

The allegations in question revolved around Inzamam ul Haq, the former chief selector who resigned on Monday.

The committee comprises of Col (r)  Khalid, Col (r) Akhtar, and Director Media Alia Rashid. Additionally, a legal and audit team representative will also be part of the committee, ensuring a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Inzamam-ul-Haq's resignation.

It was revealed that Inzamam had financial interests in a company owned by players' agent Talha Rehmani. This disclosure raised concerns about possible conflicts of interest, given that Rehmani represents several prominent Pakistani cricketers, including stars like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The primary focus of this committee is to thoroughly examine and report on the alleged conflict of interest that has arisen in the context of the team selection process.

In particular, the committee will investigate whether Inzamam's dual role as Chief Selector and a shareholder in a company representing top cricketers may have influenced player selection decisions.

The findings and any subsequent recommendations will be submitted promptly to the PCB Management for further action.
