Two massive Indian pythons, a rare breed of dragon, were captured near Kotli city of Azad Kashmir by locals on Sunday, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

The reptiles were spotted in the bushes and were handed over to wildlife department officials after capturing.

The officials then set the pythons free to a far-off area, away from the human population.

The Pythonidae, commonly known as pythons, are a family of nonvenomous snakes found in Africa, Asia and Australia.

Among its members are some of the largest snakes in the world. Eight genera and 31 species are currently recognised.

In Asia, they are found in Bangladesh, Nepal, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka including the Nicobar Islands through Myanmar, east to Indochina, southern China, Hong Kong and Hainan, as well as in the Malayan region of Indonesia and the Philippines.
