Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Thursday addressing a party’s women convention arranged in connection with International Women’s Day said no one can stop women to take out the march.

The PPP chairman said nobody will be allowed to dictate women on how to take out protest and how to do politics. “I wanted to say to those people who are saying that women cannot conduct March, you people are living in an old era. Today’s women will conduct do what they want,” Bilawal said.

It is the responsibility of the state to stop those elements who are threatening women on taking out Aurat March, he said.

“Women will become doctors, engineers, join army and no cleric, politician or any anchor person can stop the women from getting their right place in the society,” Bilawal stressed.

He lambasted PTI government and said, “PM Imran just changed the name of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) with Ehsaas programme”.

He highlighted PPP’s Sindh government feats and said “PPP government has provided 0.4m interest-free loans to the vulnerable while 1.5 million women are getting benefit from BISP since 2009.”

“Pakistan is an agricultural country and women contribute a lot in agrarian society but unfortunately their efforts and struggles are not documented and registered and they are deprived of their constitutional rights,” Bilawal said.

He accused the PTI government of removing millions of women from the BISP list. “Islam gives maximum rights to the women and we demand women should be given their due Islamic and constitutional rights,” the PPP chairman said.

Bilawal was of the view: “We will not beg from anyone for our rights. Benazir Bhutto initiated Lady Health Workers’ project followed by President Zardari’s project of BISP, which is an economic revolutionary project.”

“Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif changed the names of our previous projects and presented them as their ones. Instead of weakening the BISP and removal of the Benazir Bhutto’s name from the BISP, they don’t come up with any new projects for the vulnerable women.”
