Ex-CJ LHC Kh Sharif passes away

Former Chief Justice (CJ) of Lahore High Court (LHC) Khawaja Muhammad Sharif Friday passed away.

According to the 24News HD TV channel, funeral prayers of the former CJ Khawaja Sharif would be offered at 11 am tomorrow (Saturday) at Miani Sahab Qabrastan (cemetery).

He was appointed Chief Justice of the LHC on 12 April 2009 and retired on 8 December 2010 on attaining the age of superannuation.

He was appointed to the court on 21 May 1998. The CJ remained deposed from the bench from 3 November 2007 till 17 March 2009 when he was restored.

On his retirement, LHC judges bid a farewell to the outgoing Chief Justice.

Khawaja Muhammad Sharif commenced practice in the legal profession on April 7, 1971, from the office of Khawaja Sultan Ahmad, the most Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the High Court and enrolled as an Advocate of Lahore High Court, Lahore on 24 May 1973.

He was elected twice as President of Lahore Bar Association in the years 1989 and 1991.

During the law practice, he wrote seven law books which are Motor Accident Claims, Press and Publication Ordinance, Arbitration Act, Company Law, West Pakistan Civil Courts Ordinance and Law of Torts and the seventh book is Manual of Local Bodies Elections Laws with Rules.
