Punjab announces schedule for admissions in medical colleges

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) has invited online applications from eligible candidates for admissions to First Year MBBS/BDS in the public sector medical or dental institutions of Punjab, for the Session 2020-2021, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.

The UHS said the online portal will be available from 11 January, 2021 (9:00 AM) to 22nd January, 2021 (4:10 PM) while the final merit list will be uploaded on 8th February, 2021 and first college-wise list will be uploaded on 11th February, 2021. And commencement of classes is from March 01, 2021.

The UHS said, the applicant must have passed HSSC or F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) or equivalent examination with minimum 65 percent (715/1100) marks, applicant must have domicile of any district of Punjab and candidates having domicile of Islamabad (ICT) are eligible to apply against open merit seats.

Eligible applicants must score a minimum 60 percent (120/200) marks in the National MDCAT-2020 and for Foreign/Overseas Pakistanis seats, SAT II scores (minimum 60 percent marks in each subject or International MCAT scores (minimum 60 per cent) are also acceptable.

The UHS said for Foreign/Overseas Pakistanis seats, the eligible candidate must have obtained his/her HSSC or equivalent 12th Grade qualification from outside Pakistan (abroad).

Online Application Process: The application process shall be completely online and no manual a paper-based application shall be accepted. The candidate shall have to first register on the web portal using his/her email and a password.

Once the candidate has logged in, he/she will enter his/her profile information (Name, Domicile, Marks, etc.).

After making all entries, the candidate will be required to upload his/her scanned mandatory documents, photograph, signatures and left thumb impression (LTI) as per the list provided in the Prospectus.

Order of Preference for Colleges: Every applicant is required to list the medical and dental colleges in order of preference, starting with his/her first choice. The order of preferences once given shall be final and cannot be changed subsequenly.

On final submission, the candidate is required to visit any branch of The Bank of Punjab, with the Final Copy of application and fee challan, to deposit Admission Processing Fee of Rs. 500/- and bank service charges of Rs 150/- (both non-refundable).

MBBS/BDS Exams postponed 

UHS also announced the authority has postponed of all undergraduate and postgraduate Theory and Practical MBBS Examinations in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic till further notice and revised schedule of all examinations shall be notified at the earliest.

In a tweet, UHS Vice Chancellor Javed Akram said, “All exams including the final year shall be delayed for about 12 days or so. The new date sheet shall inshAllah be notified by tomorrow. My humble request to my dearest students please concentrate on your studies while I wish them all the best in their forthcoming exams.”
