PHP registered 2,055 cases last month: report

The Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP) registered 2055 cases last month, according to a handout released on Monday.

In a monthly performance report, the force mentioned booking 88 persons on charges of illegal possession of firearms and 72 in connection with narcotics offenses.

It recovered illegal arms including six Kalashnikovs, seven rifles, 10 guns, 59 pistols, the handout said, adding that 849litre liquor, more than 3kg charas and 350g heroin were also seized last month.

It also provide help to 13,618 passengers and reunited 99 missing children with their families, the handout said adding that Rs89,600 were fined and 163 challans were issued in connection with environment protection campaign.

Additional IG of Punjab Highway Patrol Muhammad Akram Naeem Bharoka reiterated his force resolve to continue with efforts to ensure public safety.

He showed satisfaction and hoped his team will keep such steps for public service to come up to public expectations in accordance with the vision of IG Inam Ghani.
