Pakistan to emerge stronger from virus challenge: COAS

Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has shown the resolve to meet the challenge posed to the nation and emerge stronger from it.

“Every citizen counts as we strive to scale this calamity. Being a nation with a vibrant youth and resilient people ready to share & sacrifice, we will emerge stronger from this challenge, InshaAllah,” he was quoted as telling the 231st Corps Commanders’ Conference on Tuesday.

Chaired by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi, the moot was participated by the regional commanders from their respective Headquarters through video link, said a press release from the ISPR.

It said the forum reviewed geostrategic, regional and national security environment with particular emphasis on the latest situation arising from COVID-19, according to the military’s media wing – Inter-Services Public Relations.

The meeting under took comprehensive review of deployment of Pakistan army troops assisting civil administration in aid of civil power across the country.

The forum was apprised on functioning of NCOC established to synergise and articulate the national effort for containment of novel coronavirus.

Appreciating the troops in the field for efforts made so far, the COAS directed all commanders to extend maximum assistance in moving critical resources and reaching out to mitigate suffering of people in far flung areas of Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Interior Sindh and Balochistan.

The forum paid tribute to those on frontline including doctors, paramedics, health care workers and LEAs for braving this pandemic under challenging environment.

The commanders also paid tribute to the Kashmiri people who are fighting the pandemic under Indian atrocities and struggling for their just cause of self-determination.
