The Sindh cabinet on Tuesday decided to seal the industrial units violating the lockdown, as it was informed that the owner of a large textile mills was arrested for opening the factory against the government orders.

The meeting also decided to further tighten the lockdown and directed provincial government’s spokesperson Murtaza Wahab to introduce an ordinance for the purpose.

If materialised, the move will clash with the policy of Prime Minister Imran Khan who has even announced a special package for the construction sector.

On the other hand, AIG (Assistant Inspector General) Ghulam Nabi Memon said two textile tycoons had so far been arresting for violating the lockdown orders. The textile units were being operated for the last few days, he added.

He said members of management of a textile mill have also been arrested.

The decision to tighten the lockdown came as the owners and top doctors of the leading private hospitals proposed extending the period, 24NewsHD reported.

They warned that the healthcare system not only in Sindh but in the entire country would experience a breakdown because of a sharp rise in the number of coronavirus patients.

In his reply, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that they would follow the proposals.

Sindh is the first province in the country to introduce lockdown against the wishes Imran who has been pleading the case against the move. The prime minister is now set to go for opening various sectors of the economy, as he has been of the view that the country can’t afford lockdown.

The federal government has even accused the Sindh government of restricting the movement of goods through the measures taken to implement the lockdown.
