Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Dr Zaheeruddin Babar Awan, popularly known as Babar Awan, is at the risk of losing his job as adviser to prime minister for parliamentary affairs.

According to sources, Barrister Ali Zafar may take away Awan’s job, which the latter has been enjoying since April 2020. The ruling PTI had earlier denied Babar Awan ticket for a Senate seat and now his job as adviser is in danger.

Sources say Barrister Ali Zafar is most likely to get the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Although he is interested in the Ministry of Law, but Barrister Farogh Naseem is already on a strong footing in his ministry.

Two key advisers of Prime Minister Imran Khan could not get PTI tickets for the Senate election, and Babar Awan was one of them, when the ruling party issued the final list of candidates for the March 3 Senate contest.

PTI’s Parliamentary Board, which met in Islamabad with PM Imran Khan in the chair, did not approve the names of Babar Awan, Shahzad Akbar, Amir Mughal and Sajjad Turi as candidates for the hotly contested election. The board had awarded tickets to 20 candidates.
