Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif Thursday ordered Lahore's Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) to clear the signals of beggars, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Following the CM orders, CTO Lahore Amara Athar formed three special squads to tackle the issue of the beggars on Punjab's capital's roads.
She ordered Divisional and Circle Officers (DCO) to remove the beggars immediately from signals ensuring smooth traffic movement.
“The busy and important roads of the city should also be cleared of beggars”, said CTO Lahore.
She also warned that cases will be registered against those begging under the guise of fake disability to deceive the public.
On the first day, 29 cases have been registered against beggars.
Additionally, the CTO Amara Athar urged the citizens to assist in identifying and reporting such elements, promising to work hand in hand to ensure the safety and tranquillity of the city.
