In a thrilling start to the Deaf International Council T20 World Cup 2024, the national deaf cricket team of Pakistan emerged victorious against South Africa, winning by a significant margin of 41 runs, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The match was a display of exceptional cricketing skills and strategic gameplay.
After winning the toss, Pakistan chose to bat first, setting a challenging target of 188 runs with the loss of only four wickets in the stipulated twenty overs.
The highlight of the innings was a spectacular performance by Basit Abbasi, who scored an impressive 131 runs. Captain Zaka Ahmed Qureshi also contributed significantly with 39 runs to the team’s total.
South Africa’s bowlers, Winter Colin and Van Der Conrad, managed to take two and one wickets respectively. However, their efforts were not enough to restrict Pakistan’s scoring spree.
In response to Pakistan’s daunting total, the South African team could only manage to score 147 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their twenty overs.
Russo Dudley was the top scorer for South Africa with 36 runs. Pakistan’s bowling attack proved to be too strong for the South Africans.
Manzoor Khan from the Pakistan team took three wickets, while Jabar Ali and Zaka Ahmed Qureshi took two wickets each, restricting South Africa’s chase.
The Deaf International Council T20 World Cup 2024, organized by the Deaf International Cricket Council (DICC), is currently underway at the Vision Cricket Centre in Sharjah, UAE.
This is the fourth edition of the tournament, with six teams participating: Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Australia, and Bangladesh.
