Pakistan has urged United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to direct Taliban Government in Afghanistan to rein in banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) which was involved in heinous terror attacks in Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Permanent Representative of Pakistan in UN, Ambassador Munir Akram said Pakistan faced a major terror threat from the TTP and its affiliates. Scores of civilians and soldiers were martyred in the assaults as well as military and other installations were destroyed.
Munir Akram demanded UN to probe who was providing latest weapons and finances to TTP. He said,“Pakistan have lost hundreds of brave soldiers and civilians in terror attacks as TTP affiliated group were involved in heinous attack on our security personnel”.
He demanded that world community should exert pressure on Afghanistan government to control TTP terror activities being launched by TTP against Pakistan using their soil.
“Pakistan demands that the United Nations to conduct a thorough probe to elicit how these weapons got in the hands of the TTP and to identify ways of retrieving them,” Munir Akram concluded.
It is pertinent to mention that Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested three terrorists with explosives from Rawalpindi who apparently were going to target Adiala Jail on late Thursday night. CTD said that the terrorists belonged to Afghanistan.
