In a clear attempt to hide the facts and the problems faced by healthcare workers around the country, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation and Coordination on Wednesday barred the doctors from appearing on media.

According to 24NewsHD, no officer or doctor would be allowed to talk to any TV channel and newspaper and all the departmental heads have been directed to ensure the implementation.

These written orders have been conveyed to the National Institute of Health, PIMS, Polyclinic Hospital, National Trust for Population Welfare and others.

The latest ban comes after cases of doctors, nurses and other hospital staff contracting coronavirus have become a routine.

24NewsHD reported earlier in the day that two more doctors were tested positive in Mianwali and Rahim Yar Khan.

In Islamabad alone, three doctors and a nurse have been tested positive for the virus at PIMS along with three doctors and a sweeper at Polyclinic Hospital.

Earlier, a doctor – working at the DHQ Hospital Mardan – had a received a show-cause notice for highlighting the shortage of personal protection equipment (PPE) on social media. He, however, was later tested positive for the virus.

Meanwhile, it is not only the healthcare workers who are being infected by the deadly virus but also their families.

In one such incident, a video was shared on Twitter in which the wife of an Islamabad-based doctor is saying that his family members has also been infected and no one is helping them despite repeated pleas.
