The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) issued a notification concerning fixing the electricity tariff for the last eight months under monthly fuel adjustment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Under this move, the NEPRA has increased the electricity price for five months and decreased the same for the remaining three.

According to the notification, the per-unit power rate has been increased by 98 paisas for November 2019 and Rs1.87 for December.

When it comes to the first six months of 2020, the power tariff is hiked by Rs1.11 for January, by Rs1.20 for February and by 10 paisas for March. However, there is a 70 paisas cut in the price for April followed by Rs1.25 for May and Rs1.05 for June.

Meanwhile, this monthly fuel adjustment for January, February, March and May would applicable to the current month’s bills while the power tariff for the remaining four is to be adjusted next month.

The NEPRA says the lifeline consumers are not to be affected by the latest tariff hike while the next category of consumers [those using up to 300 units of electricity] would not get any relief in terms of the price cut.
