PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz said Pakistan Democratic Movement is a campaign to ‘defend’ the constitution. 

“Defending the constitution is the prime responsibility of politicians,” she told the media after a meeting with the JUI-F leadership in Lahore on Wednesday.

“We will not dash public hopes. We will come up to their expectations,” the ex-PM’s daughter said as Maryam welcomed JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and thanked him for showing solidarity with the Sharif family.

The PML-N leader Shehbaz is being punished for standing with the constitution, people and ideology. Maryam said the PDM will fight for protecting all state organs and it will succeed. She said she will invite Bilawal to Gujranwala public gathering while the JUI-F will also come to the venue on October 16.

Maryam lashed out at PM Imran Khan over the latter’s remarks that ‘India is happy because of Nawaz Sharif's speeches.

"India becomes happy when the economy becomes bankrupt. India becomes happy when the 'Fall of Kashmir' takes place. India becomes happy when you present Kashmir on a tray to them," she added.

"Maryam Nawaz is the daughter of this country and Nawaz Sharif is a son of the soil. We do not need to prove anything to anyone."

"We have decided that only the people will make the decisions of this country," she said.

Maryam lashed out at the government's foreign policy, stating that it had been completely obliterated. She condemned the FIR registered against Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider.

She slammed the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) for ‘gagging media’ and FIA and NAB role for political persecution.

Maryam said that now, the people of Pakistan will not remain silent over the "fall of Kashmir", rising prices of sugar and wheat and other issues.

"The people are looking towards the PDM to rid themselves of this menace," she said, referring to the government. "The biggest relief for the country and the nation will be the ouster of this selected government which is the enemy of the people," she added.

Speaking on the occasion, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said no hurdle can stop the anti-government drive.

He said that there was no sign of "good governance" throughout the country. "We want to become a ray of hope for the people of Pakistan."

Fazl said the upcoming public rallies would show the strength.
