King Edward Medical University holds 161st Annual Sports Gala

The 161st Annual Sports Gala of King Edward Medical University was held at its Cricket Ground, Patiala Block Friday.

Punjab Minister for Industry and Commerce Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, Secretary Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department and Pakistan cricket captain Muhammad Yousaf also participated as Guests of Honors.

Other special guests include Prof. Mahmood Ali Malik, The Century Best Graduate of KEMC (1960), Ex- Principal KEMC, retired professors, Prof. Mukhtar Hassan Randhawa, Prof. Ghulam Sarwar, Prof. A Jalil Doula, Prof. Imran Akram Sahaf, Prof. Athar Javed, Prof. Samina Naeem, Prof. Khawar Ali, former MS Mayo Hospital Dr. Fayyaz Ahmad Ranjha, the academic Council and faculty of KEMU including Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Ijaz Hussain, Prof. Sajid Abaidullah, Prof. Haroon Hamid, Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Prof. Iftikhar Ijaz, Prof. Farhana Sajjad, Prof. Rahat Sarfraz, Prof. Farrukh Afzal, Prof. Zahra Ishrat, Prof. Taimoor Latif Malik attended the Gymkhana Events.

Minister for Industry and Commerce Mian Muhammad Aslam Iqbal said that it is a matter of great pride and honor for me to come to King Edward Medical University.

He said that King Edward's faculty played a vital role during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Patients were successfully treated through Tele Consultation in the Telemedicine Department established at KEMU.

He was very thankful to the Vice Chancellor and his team, especially Prof. Bilquis Shabbir, Prof. Saqib Saeed and Dr. Bilal Aziz who gave access to such facilities to the people sitting at their homes when OPD of the hospitals were closed.  He added that King Edward is a historic medical institution and it is a matter of pride for him to be here.

Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi said that it is a great pleasure for me to be at KEMU which is also his Alma mater. He also participated in sports activities when he was a student of this great institution.

Muhammad Yousuf, in his address highlighted the importance of sports activities in the institution and said that everyone should perform his duties with dedications, devotion and honesty for the prosperity and development of the nation.

Addressing the participants, Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal said that holding such activities in the organization is very important for physical and mental development of the students.

Prof. Mukhtar Hassan Randhawa, Prof. A Jalil Doula and Prof. Ghulam Sarwar awarded the shields and medals to the winners of various events of the sports. They expressed that the Vice Chancellor Prof. Khalid Masood Gondal and his team has wonderfully organized the events and they are thankful to him for giving them the opportunity to be at their Alma Mater after a very long time.

Shields and Souvenirs were also presented to the guests and organizers. Prof. Abrar Ashraf Ali, Staff President Sports presented vote of thanks to the participants.
