An accountability court on Friday acquitted former federal minister for ports and shipping Kamran Michael in a land transfer reference filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court also disposed of the reference and acquitted Kamran Michael and 29 other accused. Advocate Aslam Khattak and Chaudhary Amjad represented Kamran Michael in the court.

During the hearing of the reference, the defence lawyers prayed to the court that the former federal minister was not authorized to transfer the land to persons of his own choice.

They further argued that Kamran Michael was not part of the Board at the time of the transfer of land. They said that their client spent six months in jail without any solid proof or reason.

The defence counsels said that the reference was filed against their client in 2018 only to target him politically.
