KP police to perform duties strictly within provincial boundaries
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police has issued new directives to all police units in the province, implementing recent orders of the Peshawar High Court regarding the limits of police authority.
According to the instructions, police personnel will now perform duties strictly within the geographical boundaries of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and no officer may be deputed to another province or territory without formal permission.
The IG has ordered the force to fully enforce the High Court’s ruling, which clarifies that the powers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police do not extend beyond the provincial jurisdiction. Any action taken outside the legally defined limits will be regarded as unlawful.
The directive further warns that strict action will be taken against any officer or official found violating the court order, underscoring the provincial police leadership’s intention to ensure compliance and uphold the rule of law.
