Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Athar Minallah has remarked that the institution should withdraw its complaint against Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir after her statement, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
IHC Chief Justice Minallah heard a petition seeking quashing of a case against Ms Mazari for "abusing and defaming the senior command of the establishment".
On the petition, the court issued notices to the SHO, investigation officer and the complainant.
The CJ remarked that Ms Mazari in her statement said that she uttered those remarks under stress and she only expressed her apprehension and her act was unintentional. The judge wondered why Ms Mazari did not appear before the police and explained her position.
The petitioner’s lawyer Zainab Janjua advocate told the court that her client had answered the police’s questions. She told them that since her mother was whisked away, she was under stress. She said her client did not say anything against establishment, so there was no question of spreading anarchy.
The chief justice remarked that since Ms Mazari had clearly stated that the establishment was a respectable institution, then they should withdraw their complaint against her.
Though Ms Mazari has told the court through her statement that she criticized the Army Chief under stress, but the daughter of former human rights minister Shireen Mazari is known for pouring criticism on Pakistan Army in her several posts on social media.
