Zardari seeks govt’s performance report for joint session address

President Asif Ali Zardari has sought a report regarding federal government’s one-year performance ahead of his address to the joint session of the parliament, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to the 24News TV channel, the joint session of the parliament will be summoned on March 10.

Military leadership, governors, chief ministers will be invited to attend the President’s address to the joint session in which the heat of the state will highlight government key economic achievements.

According to sources, the president during his address is also expected to make some announcements regarding poor segments of the society.

The sources further divulged that duration of the president’s speech will be relatively shorter – 20 to 25 minutes – as the Opposition is expected to stage noisy protest.

16th NA’s 1st Parliamentary Year concludes

The first Parliamentary Year of 16th National Assembly concluded with massive legislative and parliamentary accomplishments under the leadership of National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.

A total of 40 government bills and 11 private members' bills were successfully introduced, with 36 government bills and six private members' bills becoming acts.

One of the most notable milestones was the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill, which aimed at judicial reforms and reinforcing parliamentary supremacy. 

Other important legislation included the Digital Nation Pakistan Act, 2025, which aims to enhance Pakistan’s digital economy, and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes (Amendment) Act, 2025, which updates cybersecurity and digital crime regulations.

In addition to this, 26 resolutions were adopted during the first parliamentary year.
