Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) said on Thursday that at a time when national unity was need of the hour given that India was threatening Pakistan, those in the corridors of power were incapable of handling the situation and the country’s most trustworthy leader, former prime minister Imran Khan was incarcerated in Adiala Jail, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

In their joint declaration, the party’s political and core committees said that the PM Modi-led India was acting upon the RSS ideology and had become a threat to the region’s peace and stability. “PTI strongly condemns India’s attempts to dominate the region and impose war on Pakistan,” read the statement.

The party went on to say that contrary to the government, which was in a state of slumber, Imran had adopted a clear stance on India’s bellicosity, although he was currently behind bars. “He is the only leader, who, despite suffering for the last two years at the hands of authorities, is calling for national unity. His clear message is: Peace is our priority. But this should not be misconstrued as our weakness," said the PTI, adding that in these times of crisis, the nation required Imran’s leadership.

“In these circumstances, keeping Imran in jail is not only an injustice but is also enmity towards the state,” read the declaration.

The PTI went on to say that it demanded the immediate release of its founder so that he could lead the nation in these testing times.
