Dr Tanveer Khaliq appointed Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University

The federal government has appointed Professor Dr Tanveer Khaliq as the Vice Chancellor of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU), Islamabad, for a four-year term, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.

An official notification was issued by the Federal Minister for National Health confirming the appointment.

This marks the second time Dr. Khaliq has been entrusted with the role of Vice Chancellor. The position had remained vacant for the past two years, creating a gap in leadership at one of the country’s key medical institutions.

SZABMU plays a crucial role in regulating both the federal government and private medical colleges. The university directly oversees the academic and research affairs of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and polyclinics, making the appointment of its Vice Chancellor a significant development for the health and education sectors.

Officials stated that the appointment is expected to pave the way for strengthening medical education and advancing modern medical research in the country.
