Finance Minister Aurangzeb holds key economic meetings in Beijing to boost Pak-China cooperation
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb held a series of important meetings with top Chinese financial leaders in Beijing, aimed at strengthening Pakistan-China economic and financial cooperation, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Monday.
During his meeting with Dr. Pan Gongsheng, Governor of China’s Central Bank, the finance minister briefed him on Pakistan’s recent economic performance and the government’s ongoing reform programme. He expressed Pakistan’s gratitude for China’s consistent political and economic support, emphasising that Chinese assistance has been vital in stabilizing the country’s economy.
Both sides agreed to expand financial cooperation, underscoring the importance of deepening engagement in banking, trade financing, and capital markets.
The finance minister also met with Mr. Liao Lin, Chairman of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC). He welcomed ICBC’s strong presence in Pakistan and acknowledged the institution’s role in providing development funding and debt refinancing support.
In the discussions, new opportunities for investment and trade financing were explored, with both sides stressing the need for closer collaboration between financial institutions.
Minister Aurangzeb assured Chinese counterparts that Pakistan’s reform program would ensure sustainable economic stability, adding that creating a conducive environment for foreign investors remains a top priority. “Partnership with Chinese institutions is an integral part of Pakistan’s economic strategy,” he said.
